    I was shopping in the supermarket once and saw that Pom juice. I thought, that looks good. It said 100% juice, but when I read the ingredients it said pomegranate juice and natural flavors. Unless the natural flavors are pomegranate juice, how can it be 100% juice? And now I find out they test on animals. . .

    I contacted Britvic to ask about their juices. Here's the reply...
    They now have it in their FAQ and the answer is alot better than the one they gave you in 2006;

    Are any of your products not suitable for Vegan / Vegetarian diets?

    Robinsons High Juice Blood Orange

    I always though the orange was not suitable because of the use of gelatine as a carrier for beta-carotene. So did a quick search to compare the claim, but instead found this:

    The following correction was printed in the Guardian's Corrections and clarifications column, Thursday May 17 2005

    Britvic, the company that manufactures Tango, has asked us to point out that the fizzy orange drink does not contain fish gelatine or any other animal products, contrary to the claim made in the feature below.
    Ahh.

    Thank you for your enquiry regarding our Ribena products.

    All of the Ribena range are suitable for vegans. They do not contain any animal products or by-products. No animal products or by-products are used in the production of Ribena.

    Thank you, once again for taking the time and trouble to contact us.

    I buy juices made from concentrates, mainly orange, pineapple and grape. I know about the gelatin thing. I did not know about the shellac. I have not been able to find a juice labelled vegan. I guess there are not enough vegans here in the Netherlands to make companies and stores do that. The Vegan Society has a list of vegan-friendly apple juices. I seldom if ever buy apple juice, but it is my only resource when I want to buy it for my niece or other children that like apple juice. Personally, when I am with others, I do not mind having an occasional glass of juice that might not be vegan.
