I will not eat anything that walks, swims, flies, runs, skips, hops or crawls.
She must have been 19 when she became vegan, and long before Donald Watson founded the Vegan Society. She looks great at 108, and is a wonderful example of how healthy the vegan diet is.

Gawd bless her ancient cotton socks and may she continue to dodge the coffin for many more years!
Anyways, just an observation this:
A while back I spent a bit of time delving into whatever info I could google up on all the people who had lived the longest in the last century, or so.
Purely from memory I think about a third were said to have been vegetarian or, from where they lived (rural China and such), could be reasonably assumed to have spent most of their lives on a largely vegetarian diet.
Thing that occured to me was that if the omni and veg*an diets were equal in terms of promotiong longevity then the occurence of veg*ans in the oldest peoples list should reflect the percentage of veg*ans in the general population.
Anything much more than about 1 in 100 veg*ans appearing on any 'oldest persons' list is waaaaaaay out of synch with that?
All done in the best possible taste ...
That's great!
Being Vegans kept me looking young and pretty (and I'm 156).
On a serious note its wonderful to see how beneficial for someone a Vegan diet can be.

It is fascinating just listening to this wonderful man. Thanks Korn.

Perhaps I'll send this in the direction of a friend of mine who, after a long conversation, said he fundamentally agrees with the ethical aspects of veganism, but wouldn't take the 'risk' with his health of trying such an 'experimental' diet. I did point out to him that there are plenty of very old, still healthy vegetarians but he wasn't convinced. I also put it to him that, from my perspective, it seemed like a cop-out as an excuse to continue enjoying meat, and he said it was honestly just the health aspect that prevents him from ditching meat.
He continues to eat greasy bacon sandwiches and cheap takeaway meat...
It is strange the way people think the vegan diet is 'risky' when their non vegan diet is full of bad fats and cholesterol clogging up their arteries, isn't it?
