H&B are now selling sandwiches from Cranks, most of which are vegetarian, but a few "seem" Vegan. I am going to email the company to find out. The ones I suspect of being Vegan are: Crunchy Lunch, Houmungously Crunchy & Houmungously Delicious

^ I saw them today as well, there were wraps as well. I was going to buy two but decided not to since they only produce vegetarian sandwiches but can't be assed to write suitable for vegans on them.
I saw them too and was disappointed that in such a big range so few are vegan looking. Frankly it's pretty boring to have everything dairy or houmous based - at least Fresh! sandwiches' vegan options are a bit more imaginative.
Thanks Firestorm, I'll keep a lookout for them in my nearest H&B.
thanks for the info, i'll take a look next time i'm near a H&B
I got an email from Cranks saying these were vegan;
Classic Sandwich – Houmungoulsy Delicious
Deep Fill Sandwich – Houmungously Crunchy
Wrap – Crunchy Lunch
I shall be in the vicinity of a H&B tomorrow (going to town to get me some new trainers) so i'll check these out Will be sure not to have lunch before I go...
Cowabunga!!
£2.79 from H&B, cheese only version too.
Over 1000 calories in that bad boy. I'll stay well clear unless I'm out on a long run Dean Karnazes style.

Oh wow, that pizza! Dangerous. I kind of appreciate not having that sort of temptation so readily available to me... :P
Apparently the crust is extremely hard :-/, personally I think this one looks nicer, I saw one in 8th day a few days ago: http://fatgayvegan.files.wordpress.c...ozen-pizza.jpg
They look to be 205 grams: http://veggies.co.uk/2012/05/11/redw...neapple-pizza/

No but I am worshiper of Redwoods myself so I will be giving them a whirl, as you said it could depend on the oven. Or even how long it was cooked for. Or the reviewers opinion of what a hard crust is
The crust isn't too hard. The pepperoni has to be watched so it doesn't burn though. I had 2 pizzas yesterday(!) and the 2nd one came out a lot better than the first. Preheating the oven is a must!!
Tried the meatless feast and cheezly & tomato pizzas this evening, they were both very nice! All they needed was a bit of salad cream, but then all pizzas need that.
According to their website there's a ham & pineapple one too.

Deffo!
Let the music mend our minds. Let the music bend our minds.
I'm rather gutted it's only a seven inch one though. If you are going to have a pizza you may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb, if you'll forgive the non-vegan idiom.
Just have to buy two I guess!
From Sutton, Surrey, (or Greater London when they want to fleece me for the Olympics)
I think the ingredients costs would make it considerably more expensive to make them larger. Doesn't seem much bigger but a 10" pizza is more than twice the size of 7".

I finally managed to get some of the pizza's - they came in stock at my local yesterday and they only had 3 (2 cheeseless & 1 meatless). I grabbed one of each but the tills were down so we had to guess the price - we settled on £6 (if they cost anymore I will go back in with the money but I checked the Redwood site and it seems about right). I have to admit they look better IRL than on screen and I can't wait to try them this weekend (cold pizza for breakfast!).
Also H&B are now selling Chia seeds at a reasonable price (£2.19 for 100grams which is cheap compared to the usual price)
Holland & Barrett have a few new products in - Vegout (same make as the porkless pie) steak & onion pie, mince & onion pie and Mamma Cucina Pizza.
Hello Buy One Get One Half Price sale! Just stocked up on Trek bars and roasted chickpeas - so glad the Brighton branch finally got the chickpeas!

Although I find where i live lacking in vegan foods, My H&B has a rather large stock of vegan stuffs... Sausages, Them Plastic looking bacon rashons , Cheeses LOTS thats the one thing i cannot fault with them!
Our H&B has a brand new fridge/freezer! Hopefully they're getting them in all stores so no more break downs and gone off food that hasn't been chilled properly as the fridges have actual doors!

Thats odd, the Huntingdon store used to have lots of breakdowns of the freezer and I got fed up of buying icey refrozen ice cream from the St.ives branch, I dunno if it's the store delivery or the freezer shuts down in store and the ice cream is easiest to see the tell tale spoilage? Anyone else notice problems?
Was the ice cream in an open chest freezer type thing because the freezers all have doors too now.

I had one of those meatless pizza's on Saturday. It was okay but I think I was expecting more flavour. I think next time I might just get a cheeseless one and put fresh veggies on it. That one firestorm posted looked good too although I'm not too keen on courgettes.
Petition for Holland and Barrett to re-introduce veggie capsules
By January 2007, their range of vegetarian herbal supplements had nearly died out. While the bottles where the same, one only had to look at the ingredients of the newer batches coming in to discover a new ingredient, gelatine.
What is gelatine?
Gelatine is a colourless, odourless and flavourless mixture of proteins from animal bones, connective tissues and other parts, which dissolved in a hot liquid and then cooled it forms a jelly-like substance used as a thickener and stabilizer in moulded desserts, cold soups, chaud-froid creations and the like and as a fining agent in beer and wine.
Why did they reintroduce it?
Upon enquiring about the sudden change, Holland and Barrett told me that “the raw materials are now sourced from different sources and unfortunately the product is no longer suitable. At present there are no plans to reintroduce vegetarian capsules for the products mentioned.â€
Such a response seems contrary to Holland and Barrett’s business plan and significantly reduces its customer base. Holland and Barrett sells a wide range of Vegetarian and Vegan food products, ranging from sausage rolls, to chocolate, frozen foods, dairy-free milk and cheese. It seems illogical to make such a change, without formal warning to regular vegetarian/vegan customers, which alienates not only vegetarians and vegans from buying their herbal supplements, but also Muslims observing Halal and Jews observing Kosher. The least one would expect from such a specialist company as Holland and Barrett is for them to keep their products available to specialist groups, and while some of these groups allow for gelatine in medical cases, it is widely known that many of Holland and Barrett’s products can be purchased from other companies, minus the gelatine.
We, the undersigned, urge Holland and Barrett to be consistent in its ethical approach and reintroduce gelatine-free capsules for their herbal products and aim to re-introduce the ‘radiance’ range of vitamins in their vegetarian form. We also urge Holland and Barrett to maintain further consistency by making products which have never been vegetarian/vegan, suitable, including products such as flaxseed soft gels, evening primrose soft gels and calcium tablets.
Sign thepetition.
Heya Kesley-Cage, I spent a brief stint working in H&B recently and while I agree that all the capsules should be gelatine-free they do have vegetarian flax oil and primrose oil tablets, calcium supplements and a vegan multi-vitamin. I spent long enough stacking shelves of them!
Houmous atá ann!
H&B have all there Christmas stock in now, I went to my local yesterday to see some new vegan goodies in the chilled and frozen section.
Sausages with bacon wrapped around.
3 cheese pack
and more but I can't remember... I just know they were full of stock
I bought a few things from Redwood's seasonal range yesterday (gammon roast, duck & orange pate, stuffing balls, sausages in bacon, chicken tikka pieces, frozen sausage rolls).
I really wanted to try the pasties/pies but they didn't have any - I wonder if they will stock them since they already stock a large range of pies. Has anyone seen them in their local H&B?
I also wanted to try the salmon but they didn't have any.
Our store still has an open chest freezer and the Redwood pizzas are always soft on the edges which puts me off buying them or anything else from there. If there are more that a few stacked up the ones underneath are solid so that's the only time I get them.

Anyone tried the gammon roast? That's quite a strong flavour as I remember....long long long time ago...
I have tried it. I tried it raw and it was like their ham slices, cooked it was much nicer but not too that much like gammon if I recall how it used to taste
I bought one but have not tried it yet.

I meant to say he got them from H&B. (Can't edit my post.)

H&B have 3 Easter Eggs in (Choices White, "Milk" with Caramels & "Milk" with "Milk" disks).
They also have vegan gingerbread men from lazy dayz
New bars in H&B, labelled Vegan:
^^ Don't bother with these. They taste like carpet
The chocolate one tasted like someone coated an old dusty, moth eaten carpet with cocoa powder. Minus the tasty underlay.
I haven't dared try the tropical flavour yet
Has anybody else noticed the change in Holland and Barrett's Natural Soya Protein Chunks?
http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pag...65&prodid=3668
Despite the same packaging and cooking /preparation instructions they now require no soaking at all and go all horrible and spongey even with the most minimal of cooking.
Does anybody know of any alternatives that are more in line with their previous product?
