I'm sure that will be a best seller I honestly don't know what to do with it as I most definitely agree that it is boking by itself!
I did not realise you were being serious. I will post a good recipe later when I go home as there is a good one there. The one I made was for quick results, there is a slower one though.
Now, clearly I wasn't paying attention when everyone who had tried it said it was yuk, because I bought some... and yes, it was yuk!
It's just really, really sweet. I think I'll go down the cheesecake route as well. I don't like wasting food.
Now... I wonder if I'll learn my lesson, or if I'll buy the slices as well. What do you think?
Come on runtheroad - what are the slices like??
Im going to steer clear of the cream cheese after everyones opinions!
got the spread but haven't tried it yet. found it in the surrey quays tesco
If I sink to the bottom I can run to the shore.
Asda Walsgrave (Coventry) have the slices. They really do taste like regular processed cheese slices too! Nearly 5 grams of fat per slice is a little bad though!
Tesco Walsgrave are selling off the Pure Cheese spread for £1 a tub, saving you 69p!
Spread has made it to Salisbury - and it's disgusting. Like saccharine pollyfilla. It's marginally better than the stinky, slimy Alpro one, and not as good as the chalky Tofutti one... but nothing beats lovely, lovely sheese
I propose we have this thread shut down before others feel obliged to try this vile creation.
Thank you for spotting my spelling mistake - I did mean Polyfilla, not parrot filla!

Too late, I tried it for the first time today (the spread). I know I haven't lead a perfect life and I've done things I'm ashamed of but I really don't think I've done anything bad enough to deserve this horrible spread.
Surely they must have done taste tests before releasing this stuff, does anyone like it? I don't recall seeing a single positive mention of it.
How are the slices?
"I don't want to live on this planet any more" - Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth
i still havnt managed to find it none of my supermarkets have it
Its the triangles I'm being taunted by, I doubt I will ever get them...South Wales is never at the fore front of vegan treats.
If the triangles are a shaped version of the cream cheese then count me out.......
It was ok as cheesecake though.
No sense being pessimistic. It wouldn't work anyway.
Grr, none of these new products have reached Southampton yet
Don't worry, you're not missing much

My OH bought some of the slices for me from Asda about a month ago sorreeee Didn't try them till tonight as didn't see the thread and not really 'into plastic' cheese, other than when melted on toast. They smell like VERY strong cheese, had a nibble and they taste ok really. I will save it for 'cheese' on toast. Hope it melts
Million times better than Sheese which is sweet and tastes DISGUSTING IMO not tried Tofutti, but the SHeese experience put me off fake cheese which is why these slices have sat in the fridge. I do have a block of Redwoods cheese does anyone know what that is like? Cheezley I think it is. If you were a fan of plastic cheese before you became vegan then I say go for it, if not don't bother
Hi Live & let live!
I actually prefer the Cheezly to any of the vegan cheeses. My favourites are Cheezly white cheddar and red cheddar.
They have some 'super melting' varieties aswell which are nice too.
I still haven't managed to try the Pure 'cheese' slices etc, even though I keep checking for them when I'm out.

Where abouts do they have them in asdas? I've looked in 2 quite large ones and not seen anything.

Hey Sandra I have tried the melting Cheezly slices they were ok, quite edible but didn't taste much of cheese -the cow's variety.
I have a block of the red stuff which has been in the fridge for about 6 weeks! There is only me who will eat it so I'm afraid to open it which is defeating the object!! Will give it a go this weekend! Sheese REALLY put me off!
Hi Mr F. Just asked OH and he said they were in the chiller cabinet next to the other Pure stuff - marg etc. Hope you get some soon. I could pop some in the post? Think they would survive, we are not in the middle of a heatwave - unfortunately!
In my local Milton Keynes one, they in with the dairy cheese slices. Pretending very hard not to be vegan...

^And they are blinkin' SWEET^ yak!

Okey Dokey
Have since tried the slices on top of beans on toast. I popped them under the grill and they attempted to melt a bit
They tasted ok though really! I would have them again.
i bought a new tub of Pure margarine yesterday and the paper inside the lid has a 50p off coupon for their cheese alternative printed on it. i've still never even seen it anywhere yet though!

The illusive slices still elude me.
I tried the ginormous asda in the north of Coventry this lunchtime, where apparently they've been spotted. Alas to no avail.
I did find several redwoods products i've not seen before however, including ready to eat southern fried nuggets. They tasted like a spicy version of the outside of a scotch egg.
I've not eaten a scotch egg in this millenium though, so I might be way off.

That is soooo strange Mr F I saw them two nights ago in another Asda this one was in Bolton £1.69 for a packet. Tons of em there were, although that doesn't help you! The offer still stands if you want some....you got some!
I still haven't seen the pure 'cheese' slices yet either.............I don't think they exist in the whole of Northern Ireland!

No luck on the Somerset / Wiltshire boarder at the moment and we have lots of major shops in the area I will check a large Tesco as much as I do not like the company I am keen to find this out for myself.
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams
Sandra / Snaffler I will send some to anyone who would like some erm I think I better rephrase that in case the whole vegan forum wants some oerr!
If you have no joy buying them and really really want to try pm me and I will send you some.
That's better!
Thanks Live&letlive xx
Hopefully we'll get them over here in the near future.

These have been aired previously, I don't know if they are still on offer though.

I've just had the pure soya 'soft and creamy' spread. I didn't like it to be honest, it's meant to be like soft cheese, but I had it on a cracker and it was more like putting thick cream on a cracker! That's what it tasted like. I imagine it would be a good ingredient though, if you were making a creamy tomato sauce or something, where you would be adding flavour with other ingredients.
The greatest mistake is to do nothing because you can only do a little.
how is it possible that they can make such a lovely marg type spread yet their 'cheese' range is almost inedible?

Ohhh, we've been lamenting this for a long, long time. You can find threads using the Search button up on the top bar, but here's one of the longer ones...
