I like olive oil mixed with lemon. As basic as you can get:) Adding a little salt and peper is good too.
My favorite diet is The Makers Diet. *being incredibly sarcastic here*
The natural foods store near me was giving out an older title by the same author and blech anything that emphasizes butter,...
Yasmene -- a favorite Arabic name:)
Gaia -- Earth Goddess (what's not to like:))
I thought Alba was cool for a while too. But I've always liked Yasmene and I stumbled upon the name Gaia in my...
I saw that and was thinking that's from Vegan Vittles isn't it. The 'omelets' alone are awesome:) I usually toss in chives. I've made them a few times and once for my family. Quite good. I haven't...
Apple pie:) Banana bread. There is plenty you can do with oranges. You could make a pear chutney.
Dark chocolate:)
Thanks:) Temptation will eventually lead me to the site. Too bad I'm not anywhere near New York:( I don't think being on the east coast counts... hehe.
Arrowroot does thicken but you have to reach that point right before boiling. Roughly speaking... I think I read that arrowroot looses its thickening abilities if boiled. But there are so many...
I'm glad to see one comment on moo shoes. Just b/c I was curious. I ran across the website and there are quite a few that are just so cute. But they're kind of expensive. Any comments on actual...
I'd probably use it. It sounds more removed than a general byproduct. Good for the environment. Kind of yuckville too... thinking about animal fat makes me cringe and want to hurl... but really it's...
Iron supplements will usually do it. Leafy vegetables are rich in iron ... so dark salads, spinach, etc is good too.
I take a veg multi. It's more like insurance than extreme necessity. I'm always running around so I can't be sure I'm getting all the appropriate vitamins & minerals in everyday w/out it.
How about a vegan twix or a vegan snickers.... those were good. I'm convinced I can semi-mimick a twix bar if I can find the time (it's just a cookie, caramel, & chocolate) ... now snickers... Really...
I agree with Phillip. He pretty much summed up what I was going to say.
People are adults and any sensible adult can think for themselves. Most people aren't going to go to the extreme and...
That's really grose. That's probably a past tense thing though since most companies no longer use lard in their products for health reasons. My dad talks of the 70's when they'd have to read labels...
Ah, woops. I misread your post:-o You're right. I think I did too. They're great with soy milk:)
Also, the Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook by Joanne Stepaniak. I actually like a lot of her recipes even though I haven't gotten around to trying the cottage cheese recipes.
The soy milk might take away from some of the richness of the chocolate. I actually considered that though. I was thinking something like a little flax powder would do the trick. I dunno. I don't...
Since someone posted about the recipe. I've been meaning to comment but I've been so busy with work I don't think I've gotten around to it.
Those brownies are amazing! I love chocolate and I've...
Sounds interesting. I might give it a try sometime. I'm really liking recipes in Joanne Stepaniak's books: 'The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook' & 'Vegan Vittles'. A lot of her recipes are actually quite...
Powdered soy milk is available is natural food stores, etc. It's rather pricy though.
I forgot about this thread: Soy Products
Other than that... I can't find the links I was looking at yesterday. That's a start though. The articles that are linked to are more neutral, which is...
I was looking at a thread on raw foods and there was a link to a site that linked to anti-soy sources. I'll do a quick search. Someone will find something wrong with just about everything.
I was...
She might be refering to convenience foods and such which aren't necessarily available in all American supermarkets.... or can be hard to find. It really depends on the neighbourhood. That's one...
I thought I'd add.... I really want to try date sugar. Another rather pricy sugar. I love dates. Has anyone tried it?
Raw sugar should be vegan. The reason that refined white sugar is technically not vegan is because some white sugar is processed through bone char.
I choose not to use it directly because the...
You're funny:lol: But I don't think that's how it works. When people have reverted to canibalism to live I presume they lived off those already dead....
So, yeh that's why it's not really a...
I like the article. That's really great:)
Err... I'm off of coffee for err almost 4 days... but not caffeine. I had green tea a couple of days ago to soothe a headache... and working a late shift...
Cities are far more polluted than the suburbs. So, waste is much higher. That and the citizens of suburbia (hehe... jk... my parents live out in the suburbs) commute by car to city on a daily basis...
I like making this one (but due to laziness I don't do it often):
Tomato, Onion, Cucumber, Romaine Lettuce/or mixed Greens, babaganoush (eggplant dip)/also works well w hummus, salt, and pepper,...
*falls out of chair*
So, ture. I didn't. And besides... as I said before even as a meat eater I was well squemish about touching anything raw ... much less a fish that needed scaling etc.... yek....
Well, tea wouldn't exactly be a replacement since I'm a frequent tea drinker too. If I'm not drinking coffee I'm drinking tea.
I love a lot of herbal teas. Especially florally based teas.... they...

In general if I want I can often give something up cold turkey... but that's usually easier for me when it's based on ethical reasons or very well informed knowledge... or even safety in terms of...
I reached a point w some things where it bothered me and I gave them away to my sister or found something to do w them. Anything that directly tests products on animals... even though pre vegan...
It's one of those situations where you don't really know what you will do or how far you will go until you are in it. It's best to be thankful you're not in a situation where you have to choose and...
In terms of society, well it depends on how much you care. I don't really... when it comes to diet. Having said that I think it's interesting but I'm not interested in adopting it.
You should take...
I'm somewhere between the not accepted and an eventual acceptance. I think long term wise as society becomes more and more aware of health concerns, etc. it will become more accepted/mainstream. Look...
Companies will have to list the trans fats in their products starting at some point in th future. As of sometime last year (I think) companies don't have to yet but can elect to. Most natural and...
